01Understanding Gambling Risks
Every casino game has a built-in house edge. Over time, the operator keeps a share of what is staked, so the expected result for a player is a loss. Wins happen, but they are random: no system, pattern or “hot streak” changes the odds, and past results do not affect the next spin, hand or round.
Treat any money you gamble as the cost of entertainment, like a cinema ticket — money you can afford to lose. Gambling is not a way to earn income, pay bills or recover debts. Risks increase when people chase losses, play when upset, tired or after drinking, or gamble for longer than they planned.
- Set a budget and a time limit before you start, and stop when you reach either.
- Never chase losses: a loss is the price of the entertainment, not a debt to win back.
- Take regular breaks and keep gambling in balance with other activities.
- Do not gamble to cope with stress, loneliness or low mood.

02Minimum Age
You must be 18 or older to gamble online in Alberta. If the operator sets a higher minimum age in its official terms, that higher age applies. Every visitor confirms their age at the age gate, and every player’s age is verified against identity information before any deposit or withdrawal.
Accounts found to belong to anyone under 18 are closed, and any winnings are voided. See our Terms and Conditions for details.
03Protecting Minors
Young people are particularly vulnerable to gambling harm. We do not direct advertising at minors, do not use imagery that appeals to them and verify the age of every player. You can help keep children and teenagers away from gambling at home:
- Never leave your account signed in on a shared device, and do not save your password in a browser others use.
- Keep payment cards and banking details out of reach.
- Use parental control software or device settings that block gambling websites and apps.
- Talk to young people about how gambling works and why the odds favour the operator.
If you believe a minor is using an account, please tell us at support@goldennuggelcasino.slonik.store.
04Recognizing Problem Gambling
Problem gambling can affect anyone, at any level of play. It often develops gradually, and the person concerned may be the last to notice. Common signs include spending more than intended, chasing losses, borrowing to gamble, hiding gambling from others, and feeling anxious or irritable when not gambling.
The short self-check below can help you reflect on your own play. It is not a diagnosis. Your answers stay in your browser — nothing is sent to us or saved.
05Deposit Limits
A deposit limit caps how much money you can add to your account in a day, a week or a month. Once you reach it, further deposits are blocked until the period resets. Setting a limit before you start playing is one of the simplest ways to keep spending within your budget.
You can lower a limit at any time, and the change applies immediately. If you ask to raise or remove a limit, the change takes effect only after a 7-day cooling-off period, giving you time to reconsider.
06Loss Limits
A loss limit sets the maximum net amount you are prepared to lose over a day, week or month — your stakes minus your winnings. When you reach it, you cannot place further real-money bets until the period ends, even if you still have funds in your balance.
As with deposit limits, a lower loss limit applies straight away, while an increase or removal applies after a 7-day cooling-off period.
07Time Limits
It is easy to lose track of time while playing. A time limit caps how long you can play in a day, a week or a month; when you reach it, real-money play pauses until the period resets. You can also switch on reality-check reminders in your account, which interrupt play at the interval you choose to show how long you have been playing.
Shorter time limits take effect immediately; longer limits or removing a limit follow the 7-day cooling-off period.
08Gaming Breaks
If you want to step away for a while, you can take a break (“time-out”) of 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days or 6 weeks. During a break you cannot play or deposit and you will not receive marketing, but you can still sign in to withdraw your balance or view your history.
A break cannot be cancelled early — your account returns to normal automatically when it ends. If you feel you need longer than 6 weeks, consider self-exclusion.
09Self-Exclusion
Self-exclusion is a longer, firm commitment not to gamble. You can self-exclude for 6, 12, 36 or 60 months. Once it starts, a self-exclusion cannot be shortened or cancelled.
- You cannot play, deposit or open a new account during the exclusion.
- Your remaining balance is returned to you, after any required checks.
- You will not receive promotions or marketing messages.
- When the period ends, your account does not reopen automatically — you must contact us and we will review your request.
Self-exclusion from one site does not block other gambling sites or venues. Consider the Alberta program below, blocking software and the support organizations listed on this page.
10Alberta Self-Exclusion Program
In addition to the self-exclusion in your account, Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) runs a Voluntary Self-Exclusion program for people who want to exclude themselves from gambling in Alberta more broadly. Enrolment, the venues and services covered, the available periods and the conditions are set by AGLC, not by us.
For current details and to enrol, contact AGLC or GameSense. Where you are enrolled in an applicable Alberta exclusion program, we are required to honour it, and an account may not be opened or used while the exclusion applies.
11Account Restrictions
Besides the limits you choose, we may restrict an account to protect players. If our monitoring shows possible signs of harm — for example, sharply increasing deposits, very long sessions or repeated reversed withdrawals — we may contact you, recommend tools, apply limits or temporarily suspend play.
Accounts are also restricted when identity or age verification is incomplete, when play is attempted from outside Alberta or when the law or the regulator requires it. If you would like us to apply a restriction on your behalf, contact support@goldennuggelcasino.slonik.store.
